Oppo is a wonderful place of education and enlightenment, but there are also places on the internet where people see the word "Skyline" and think OMGWTFGTRAMAZING. It is time that I introduce those people to the abomination which was the Skyline R32 GXi.
This economy model was an R32 with a 90, yes NINTY, NINE OH, horsepower 4 cyl. NINETY HORSEPOWER.
Forgive me Nissan for YOU have sinned. How could you.

I'd love one of those if it had more power. It's so good-looking.

Eh... I gotta say, the engine fits the bodystyle. I've always found a Skyline to be a car that looked more like a Geo Prism than anything else. I mean, even the hubcaps match.
Oh, and BTW, the base Prism had a 70HP engine.

....in which I introduce the R32 GTS-T. Same body, but an RB20. And an RB26 isn't too hard of a swap either.

So much want right now. I'd totally DD that.

And then I bring in the big guns....the Autech R32. A 4 door R32 with a one-off RB26E(!) (Effectively a non-turbo GTR engine) and AWD. They were sadly all automatic, but I can't imagine it would be impossible to swap in an R32 GTR manual for awesomeness.

The Geo Prizm had the 4A-FE as a base engine, which produced 102 hp.

Interesting — Wikipedia said 70, but I should have learned before now that you can't trust a lot of what you read there.

A colleague at work had an R34 four door GT something or other. She wanted the two door but her and her husband needed the extra doors for the kids, she only kept it a few months and got herself a Subaru Impreza. She's always been one for fast cars. She may be nearly 50 but she likes her fast cars and doesn't show any sign of slowing down any time soon.

For what it's worth, it's a handsome little economy car.

I would totally drive that. I've always appreciated nice underpowered cars. Must be why I love Kei cars so much. My 323 has about the same power and I love driving the thing altho the r32 would be a bit heavier. be the ultimate troll and swap in that 4cyl in a R32 GTR to get people talking.
yes I'm a strange man and I'm dozing off on sleeping pills so not thinking that straight right now.

Umm, so what? The Skyline has always been what is essentially a japanese 3-series, including the obligatory pensioner models. I haven't heard that many complaints about the existence of stuff like the 316s either. Non-turbo RBs weren't much better anyway.
